At Hans Anders, it is certainly not just the price that is different. In fact, the optician sees the entire optical market through a different lens. After discovering a high-quality and affordable Japanese eyewear collection, the three founders find out in 1982 that Dutch opticians pocket decent margins. And so Hans Anders is born. ‘Hans’, because two of the founders are called Hans. And ‘Anders’, because they are going to do things completely differently. The mission is clear: to make good vision – and since 1999 also hearing – accessible to everyone.
Anno 2021, the success formula is owned by investment company 3i and has grown into one of Europe’s fastest growing eye and hearing care groups: Hans Anders Retail Group. The retail platform now operates under the retail brands Hans Anders, eyes + more and Direkt Optik and serves the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Sweden with some 620 shops.
